"You'll never fall into the tourist traps when you travel with Frommer's."

Frommer's expert authors have already gone where you wish to go. They're ready to tell it like it is, so you can enjoy the wonderful state of Virginia.

This book features chapters on geography, history, government and economy, people, achievements, landmarks, and state survey- an excellent resource for reports.

There are two books. Both books have an abundance of large, clear, full-color photos or reproductions on almost every page.

Martha J. McNamara generously illustrates the study of 'public space' in early America. She illustrates the architectural transition from town houses to courthouses.

Interestingly, she argues, attorneys needed architects just as much as architects welcomed a new market for their skills in developing public buildings.

We found this an invaluable resource in preparating this website. It is the production of a husband/wife team.

John O. Peters, a practicing attorney, produced outstanding pictures as the photographer.

Margaret T. Peters, formerly Historian for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, researched the various facts and details that make the book special.
